So I don't know how many people are still hanging around here, using DA. I genuinely miss the way this place used to be. Obviously not perfect, but I had a decent set of friends here.


But I don't post here very often, and when I do there's hardly any interaction. I tend to just post my art and go. Which is unfortunate because I used to spend a whole lot of time on here. Better places to find me are:

I've been here for years and I made some really good friends all those years ago. People I used to talk to all the time and over time we just kind of lost touch. Some people stopped coming here, or we just lost touch.


I'm kind of curious to know if any of my old dA friends are still around and if so, would you be willing to reconnect? I'm not sure if things would be the same, but I'm interested in at least trying if any of you are still around :)

Been About 4 Years.... I Should Update.

I've found Deviant Art to be a little sad lately. Most of my old friends have long gone, most people I watch don't post art anymore. And I find that none of my art gets any views.

I've never been popular and I'm not a fantastic artist by any means, but I used to get at least some views and some favourites. Even the occasional comment. So I'm a little hesitant to post on here. I will continue, but there are other places where you can find me.

DA Anniversary

Yesterday was my 8 year anniversary for DeviantArt, which I think is a great milestone. I didn't even realize until I noticed it said '8 years' instead of 7. I made the account in middle school, grade 8 if I recall correctly. That makes me feel ridiculously old. Ugh. 

At any rate, hurray to eight years of DA to me, and hopefully many more.

Writing

I posted two stories recently. I like the way they both came out. Take the opportunity to give them a read; start conversation, too! I wrote them with open-ends (more so in No Escape than in The Blanket) to provoke discussion. What happened in the end? How do these stories make you feel? More importantly, where can I fix them, make them better? What can I do to progress as a writer?

Hopefully I can get some commentary soon, I'm very much looking forward to discussing my work.

So far what I've noticed, though, is that artwork (read: drawing/photography/paintings, etc.) are valued higher on here than writing. That makes me a little agitated, because my drawing is nowhere near as good as my writing (not that my writing is all that great), and my drawing has received more commentary than anything else I've posted. What is this?

On a different, yet somewhat related note, No Escape did not win the contest that I had entered it in. I find this unfortunate, but I suppose disappointment is part of life. Oh well, the experience was interesting, and hopefully next year I can write something even better and maybe place. Wouldn't that be thrilling?
